Ontario Ombudsman Paul Dubé took his oath of office on April 1, 2016, beginning a five-year term as the province’s independent, impartial watchdog. Mr. Dubé is the province’s seventh Ombudsman since the office was established in 1975. Read more about the new Ombudsman.

Conference: Expanding the mandate of the Ontario Ombudsman:
Keynote speaker Steve Orsini
On February 25, 2016, the Ontario Ombudsman's Office, in partnership with Canada's Public Policy Forum, held a one-day forum for municipal and school board stakeholders to discuss the Ombudsman's new jurisdiction over those sectors. The keynote speaker was Steve Orsini, Secretary of the Cabinet and Head of the Ontario Public Service. As he noted, "If I was a CEO and someone said to me, 'We’re going to have this group that's going to evaluate how your customers feel, whether you treated them fairly, whether you’re providing excellent service', I’d say 'That’s fantastic, that’s exactly what I want', and that’s what the Ombudsman’s role is."
