After her second suicide attempt, a 15-year-old girl contacted us from the hospital. She said she did not want to return to her family home because she did not feel safe there. She had contacted her local children’s aid society (CAS), with support from her mental health clinicians, but apparently did not get help.
We followed up with the CAS, which met with the family and eventually supported the youth in moving into her sister’s home. Counselling was also arranged for the youth and her parents. She told us she was happy with this outcome and how we helped her.
