The Ombudsman found that the council for the Township of Schreiber did not contravene the Municipal Act, 2001 during its closed meeting on March 25, 2025. The Ombudsman was satisfied that council’s discussion fit within the open meeting exceptions cited in its resolution to proceed into closed session. Council cited the exception for personal matters in section 239(2)(b) of the Municipal Act, 2001 to discuss a matter relating to the fire department, including the personal circumstances of several identifiable individuals and the conduct of employees of the Township.
