The Ombudsman found that a closed meeting held by council for Prince Township on January 14, 2025 to discuss a draft document did not contravene the open meeting rules in the Municipal Act, 2001. The Ombudsman was satisfied that council’s discussion fit within the exception for personal matters about an identifiable individual, as council referred to specific employees by their names and positions and discussed their job performance. Council’s discussion also fit within the exception for labour relations or employee negotiations, as the discussion related to staff performance.
