Township of Coleman - March 25, 2026
The Ombudsman found that an emergency meeting held by council for the Township of Coleman did not qualify as an emergency under the Township’s procedure by-law and that notice of the meeting should have been provided to the public as per the open meeting rules. The Ombudsman also found that council’s closed session discussion during the meeting did not fit within the open meeting exception for advice subject to solicitor-client privilege, however the exception for personal matters applied instead.
