The Ombudsman reviewed a complaint alleging that council for the Town of Midland improperly gathered ahead of its August 7, 2024 meeting to discuss the process to fill a council vacancy and/or determine how the council vacancy should be filled. The Ombudsman’s investigation found that there was no reasonable basis to conclude that council’s decision was predetermined or that a quorum of council came together ahead of the meeting to advance council business or decision-making.
