The Ombudsman found that the General Committee for the council of the City of Mississauga did not contravene the Municipal Act, 2001 on October 23, 2024 when it held a closed meeting to receive a verbal update on proposed bike lane legislation. The Ombudsman was satisfied that the General Committee’s discussion fit within the exception for advice subject to solicitor-client privilege, as the General Committee received legal advice from its solicitor.
