Town of Fort Erie - July 3, 2012

The Ombudsman found that Fort Erie Council complied with the open meeting requirements in regard to closed meetings held on July 9 and 16, 2012, however, they violated the open meeting requirements at two closed meetings in April and May, 2012.

The Ombudsman found that Council's attendance at two closed meetings of the Economic Development and Tourism Corporation on April 17 and May 2, 2012 violated the open meeting requirements of the Municipal Act. The Ombudsman cautioned Council to ensure that such meetings in future adhere to the open meeting procedures.

The Ombudsman found that Fort Erie Town Council complied with the open meeting requirements in regard to closed meetings held on July 9 and 16, 2012 in which Council sought legal advice regarding a cost sharing agreement negotiated with a development company.
