The Ombudsman reviewed a complaint about a closed meeting held by council for the County of Lambton on May 7, 2025. The Ombudsman found that council did not contravene the open meeting rules in the Municipal Act, 2001 when it moved in camera to discuss a potential sale of property, as the discussions fit the exception for acquisition or disposition of land. The Ombudsman also made best practice suggestions for the County to keep more detailed minutes and make audio recordings of its closed sessions.
