On February 25, Steve Orsini, Secretary of the Cabinet and Head of the Ontario Public Service, discussed the value of ombudsman oversight at a one-day forum about the expansion of the Ombudsman's oversight into municipalities and school boards.
On February 25, 2016, the Ontario Ombudsman's Office, in partnership with Canada's Public Policy Forum, held a one-day forum for municipal and school board stakeholders to discuss the Ombudsman's new jurisdiction over those sectors.
The keynote speaker was Steve Orsini, Secretary of the Cabinet and Head of the Ontario Public Service. As he noted, "If I was a CEO and someone said to me, 'We’re going to have this group that's going to evaluate how your customers feel, whether you treated them fairly, whether you’re providing excellent service', I’d say 'That’s fantastic, that’s exactly what I want', and that’s what the Ombudsman’s role is."
